NotesIn 1967 J. Robert Swank noted "There is evidence of unmarked graves. Plot surrounded by splendid brick wall. Marriage record: Thomas Rice married May 1797 to Esther Scott, daughter of Jacob Scott." In 1937 Mr. W. A. Byerly, working for the WPA, noted "Graveyard was recently enclosed by a new brick wall & is in good condition. The early Rice family graves are not marked, only the later ones. This is one of three brothers who were among the early settlers in Virginia." Today, 2002, the current owners clean cemetery at least once a year & the brick wall is in good condition.
