CemeteryKoontz Family Cemetery
LocationMauzy area, Rockingham County, Virginia. Recorded directions in 1960s by the D.A.R.-Located on Route 608 (Mauzy Athlone Road) east of Route 11 (North Valley Pike) and Interstate-81. Place known as Clifton Hall.
NotesIn 2011 no attempt was made to locate this cemetery. In 1960s the D.A.R. noted that all stones have disappeared with the exception of one and some badly broken pieces of other stones. In book Mountain Valley People (page 364-365) by Marie Koontz Arrington, she wrote; This at one time was a rather large and well fenced cemetery. The first family that bought the homestead after the Koontzes owned it, tore the fence down and removed a number of boxwoods and stones before being stopped by members of the Koontz family.
