About Civic Season

Civic Season is a nationwide movement inviting meaningful reflection on our country’s past and our role in shaping its future from our newest holiday, Juneteenth, to our oldest holiday, July 4th. Rocktown History is extending Civic Season to include the month of June.

About the Featured Exhibition

Resilience Amid Resistance chronicles the pivotal history of school integration in Virginia and in our local community—a history made by students and now told by students. Visitors will gain insight into the courage and determination that shaped educational equality through individual actions of civic engagement in the 1950s-1960s.
