Meet young Mattie A. Templeton—a plucky student leaving home for Shenandoah Institute, navigating new expectations, friendships, and the rhythms of Valley life in 1892 and 1893. Rooted in real places, people, and historical research, Mattie’s story brings the past to life through a thoughtful and engaging lens.
